If you are part of my mailing list, you might have seen the email that went out about the “Behind the Story.” It’s an inside look behind what actually goes on in the book writing process. In continued efforts to give my exposure to my actual life that goes on beyond the writing, I decided to start blogging about it. I’ll randomly update you on the happenings going on around the house when I see fit and have a message tied into it so it’s of some value to you. If you enjoy reading these posts, be sure to let me know. It’s always a joy to hear from readers.
God has blessed me without measure! My life, is simply amazing. It’s not because it is easy or without obstacle, it’s because I serve an amazing God that I rely on daily. I married my best friend, Crystal, and we’ve been married for over four years now. Oh, and if you don’t know already T.K. is not my real name, my name is Benjamin. She’s amazing and I thank God daily for her being in my life. We (up until early April, more on that in a moment) live with my step daughter Emma. She comes from Crystal’s previous marriage.
In early April we took on two additional children. These two young boys come from a family member that has fallen into a bad spot in life. While I won’t go into details about the situation, I will let you know one boy is two years old in June and the other is three years old in June. These children come from a broken home. After becoming homeless, the said family member came to us and said she had nowhere for her children to live, and resulted in us taking them into our home.
While we love these boys dearly, it has been a challenge. Without any sense of authority, discipline or stability; it’s been through the power of God that my wife and I have maintained our sanity through the process. Every day that passes we see more improvement in both the boys and they are truly a blessing in our lives. At the end of May, we will be having the custody hearing to receive guardianship over the children until their mother is able to provide for them.
The reason for sharing this part of my life is help show the real life story that is going on behind the scenes of the written words you read on the pages I write. It’s to help you in your own walk and life.
While the grandparents are usually the ones who take on their children’s children when the parent is unfit for their responsibilities, our situation is different.
When we encounter resistance to what is good and what is right, we have to lean heavily on the Lord and His many comforts. There is nothing more disheartening than to have your own family pitted against you when you are attempting to do the right thing. Thankfully, we serve a mighty and powerful God that has made promises in His word.
He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
When we become broken through our circumstances and struggles, no matter what they are, God is there for us. He will comfort us and bring us into his abiding joy.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
We serve an awesome God that can and WILL help us through our many struggles in this life. The world is full of people looking to push you around, tell others what to do and try to explain how they think the world works. We should always take counsel from others, but we should be leery, for if they are speaking from their own minds and hearts, they are being deceived. You have to be able to discern between truth from above (scriptural insight) and worldly advice. If you feel the world is weighing you down, and some of the people in it, dive head first into your Bible and draw on the power of God. For nobody can break your footing that abides in God.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Overcome those negative thinkers and people who attempt to cloud your mind with untrue thoughts and feelings. It’s in God’s word alone we can take comfort and refuge. Knowing His truths and love will preserve our souls and mind in times of tribulation. Family, friends and strangers can and some will come against you in this world when you try to do what is right. We should never let the enemy take a foothold in our lives and allow him power to influence us in any way. Even a Godly person can be led astray in his/her thinking or what they feel is right.
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
Proverbs 28:26 (KJV)
Rely on God, be leery of others and always believe that God is by your side. When you can focus on God, the world around you becomes a bunch of useless white noise. Remember, people lie, God doesn’t. Trust in His words always. I hope this post strengthens your faith, causes you to think and ignites the fire for the Lord in your soul.
