This is a sweet romance filled with ups and downs, prayer and answers to prayer, doubts and fears as Natalie and Jacob travel down paths that seem to go in opposite directions. Each of their journeys results in a closer walk with God and leads them home. I love how this author always weaves in the gospel message in a way that is clear and a natural part of the story.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book about God redeeming marriages, families and individuals. In this book you meet Jacob and Natalie who struggle through infertility, issues in their marriage and straying from God as they get caught up in the details and struggles of life. Is their hope for their family? For their marriage? Get your copy and find out.Spoiler alertThis book is a very easy read. I love how it dealt with both infertility and foster care, and shows the strain these can put in a marriage. I love how this story shows that God can repair any struggle if we do it His way. Also the author reveals how expectations that we bring into marriage can affect the marital relationship. Additionally in this story, we see 2 different ways people handle difficulties apart from God and then with God. It all came down to a heart issue, which is true of us as well. So I said all that to say I recommend this book. There are so many good themes and lessons that the story will cause you to self reflect on your own heart.

I read this book when it was originally published in two separate books: “The Start of Us” and “The Tender Years”. I received a complimentary copy from the author but I wasn’t required to post a positive review.I want to share my review because this story touched me and made me learn a lot of things.First part: The Start of Us:This is a beautiful story about starting again, renewing your life, all through God’s Grace!Natalie falls into depression after a painful ended marriage. After her blessed father’s requests she travels to take care of her sick grandpa. This will be the start of a new life, a new vision of life, thanks to her grandpa, and thanks to God who has every move in his providence.Jacob has ended painfully his marriage too and wants to start a new life and live as a good Christian. When he meets his new neighbor and he can’t stop being attracted to her, can this mean he can have a second chance at love? He wasn’t looking for love, but it seems Love found him first. And showed Him his better plans for him. Both have suffered, both have much to forgive, but with the aid of God maybe they can do it together and strengthen their faith while at it?Beautiful story about loss, second chances, redemption and forgiveness. As always, T K Chapin touches real issues with a very inspiring insight. A godly insight!Second Part: The Tender Years:This is the Second Installment in “The Love of God” Series, and it was a beautiful, heartwrenching at times, but heartwarming and inspiring at the same time.Jacob and Natalie are now married and discover they can’t have children. This is a very difficult and realistic issue. I have many friends that have gone through this painful issue, with different visions, and different outcomes. My best friend, after praying non stop to God, had her first child after 8 years of marriage. Another friend took a few difficult years to finally adopt a baby. Most cases have adopted with wonderful results. I also have a friend that they both accepted not having children, and devoted themselves to other charitable causes. Still, it’s ALWAYS a struggle and a mystery. And I loved the outlook T K Chapin gives us of this painful difficulty in a marriage in a way that helps us learn that God has His own plans for us and that they are much better than anything we could have imagined. But those plans that always end in happiness are no strangers to grief, suffering and struggle. But it’s always worth it and the outcome is that we become better persons when we let ourselves guide by God through difficult times, and trust His times. I loved the way Jacob and Natalie reacted, tried to strengthen each other and not turn again God, but quite the contrary. Parenting an adoptive or foster child may not be easy, as we can see in this story, but giving your heart to a child in need of love, and making him yours by heart may even be stronger than biological. This was an excellent story, very realistic, but faith inspired and uplifting in every way. At helps in an issue that’s not uncommmon in our society, so it enlightens us how to help friends that have to endure this painful process.I totally recommend this book. Touching and inspiring! I truly loved it!
