5 Ways To Lose Yourself and Gain Jesus

We as Christians are instructed in the Bible to lose ourselves. Sometimes we get so caught up in what’s going on inside of us and in our minds that we forget who Jesus really is. He’s our salvation, our peace and our understanding. It’s through the Scripture that we are taught by God how to lose ourselves and gain Jesus. Today I want to go over five different areas in which you can lose yourself and gain Jesus. These are short and to the point. It’s a great way to realign your thinking for the day or gain Biblical insight you weren’t previously aware of. If you enjoy this read, please share, like and comment.     1.) Realize it’s not about YOU anymore I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 When Christ was nailed up on that cross of Calvary, He died not only for our sins, but for us. We are bought and paid for in full. We are His and we belong to Him. When we realize that our life isn’t our own post-conversion, we realize that He’s the one everything in this life is for. Being a mere instrument and tool for God’s work is a blessing and should be a focus of every Christian’s mind day in and day out. The world has a tendency to focus on the “me” aspect of our daily lives and Jesus says “No” to that. It’s not about the difficulties you’re struggling with, it’s not about the hardships you’re having, it’s about focusing our sights on the Lord and believing in Him and trusting in His strength alone.Read more…

Finding the Peace of God in the midst of Chaos (ISIS, Gay Marriage, Gender Neutrality)

3 Steps to finding the peace of God I’ve been wanting to write a post about the chaos unfolding in our world for a while. First it was going to be focused on gay marriage, then ISIS and then… You get the picture. The world is full of chaos and is always changing. What are we supposed to do with that? There’s so much going on every single day that trying to keep up with it all is nearly impossible. Trying to keep up with it all AND finding peace of mind is impossible. There’s good news about all the chaos though, Jesus has already overcome the world! John 16:33 (NIV)  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Most of us are familiar with the above passage from John, we just get stuck applying the scriptures to real life. There’s a big disconnect between what we sometimes read in the Scripture and how we act in our lives. That’s entirely normal, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There’s a way to keep the peace of God within your daily walk in life.  1. Read the Bible more than anything else you do While it seems difficult, it’s not. I know how it easy it is to listen to the news while getting ready for the day with that morning cup of coffee, but instead how about listening to Bible read out loud via audiobook or the Bible app on your phone? Taking in more of what God says instead of what the world media says will help your mind find more focus on God and more peace in your heart and mind. Chances are you’ll still end up hearing about current world turmoil through other avenues such as co-workers and friends, so there’s no sense in wasting your time hearing about it via your own TV set. Instead, if you are serious about getting your mind right with God and finding peace, get yourself set into the Bible. Make sure it’s getting more time than any other source of input (TV, Radio, Music, Internet). 2. Pray Our relationship with the Creator is dependent on our prayer life.Read more…
